Gift the Wee Alphas app

Preschoolers on your list will love the silly stories and quirky animation surprises of the Wee Alphas gang. Gifting the app is more personal than an iTunes gift card, but just as easy to give – to preschoolers, favorite teachers, or even to your local library or children's hospital.

To gift the Wee Alphas app, just click the arrow to the right of the Buy button in the App Store, and choose "Gift This App" from the drop-down menu. You'll need to fill in your recipient's (and your) details, such as names, email addresses and a personal message. Then you can choose to print a gift page to hand-deliver, or you can have the gift sent directly via email.

Wee Friends: Zoe

We asked 5-year-old Wee Alphas fan Zoe her favorite part of the app. "Everything!" she said. (The hidden animations with silly sounds seemed to be the biggest hit.)

[WS: Thanks, Z! Big hug.]

Wee're in the news

The Wee Alphas have been spotted in a bunch of design blogs lately. Here are a few of our favorite mentions:

"This poster is a hoot and a howl and a hiss and a LOL. The LOL comes from trying to imagine registering 13 luscious colors in the name of beautiful and kid-friendly art."

"A is for amazing adorable animal alphabet app from Wee Society. Impalas deep sea diving, vultures with beehive hairdos, sneezing squirrels – they're all part of a new crazy clever alphabet app with illustrations so quirky and modern that I want to hang them on my kiddo's wall. But even better, this app isn't just a bunch of pretty pictures. It's amazingly educational too … [and] learning basics doesn't have to be boring. You just can't beat a fox doing film critiques."

Apple features Wee Alphas in iPad Mini release video

We're beyond thrilled that the Wee Alphas app appears in Apple's video for the new iPad mini, which also features Apple SVP of Design Jony Ive.

"These aren't scaled up phone apps," says the voiceover. "These are powerful apps that take full advantage of iPad's beautiful display." Watch it here.

The iPad mini was unveiled during today's much-anticipated Apple event. Good news: Any app made for the iPad is also made for the iPad mini. And we believe that the lighter device will be even easier for little hands to use – something that fans of preschool learning apps will appreciate.
